Within 6 months, I received an opportunity to attend the Denver Cooking Institute in Denver, Colorado for a three-month intensive culinary course. This experience encouraged me to pursue a career in the hospitality industry. My culinary career began in 1980 when I received my certification and was hired as 2ndCook at the Bolling NCO Club. I also accepted a job with Marriott Twin Bridges. For six years, I worked at both the Marriott Twin Bridges and the Bolling Air Force Base NCO Club.
During 35 years in the hospitality industry, I had the pleasure of meeting and serving with people from all walks of life. During this time I worked at several hotels in positions that included Senior Sales, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. The hotels were Hilton, Sheraton, Western, Cambria, Holiday Inn, and Best Western. I also

During this time I worked at several hotels in positions that included Senior Sales, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. I also served as a board member on the Society for Government Meeting Professionals/National Capitol Chapter Board where I served two terms as treasurer, and two terms as Director of Community Outreach and Membership for a total of 9 years. During those 35 years in hospitality, there were good times and trying times, but I am grateful that I had the opportunity to serve and make a difference in the industry. I do miss it and I may return in the future. But until then, I have a call to pursue my new found passion for baking. A baker now I am.
My Mother, who lives with me, suffers from Dementia and is confined to bed with limited mobility in her hands and legs. I am her love giver and love cooking for her daily.
